Laptop Requirements

Here are the basic laptop/computer requirements to use Case Catalyst while attending StenoKey. You can take this list to your local electronics store or use it to filter options when shopping online.

Operating System

Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Note: Windows 11 is preferred.

Processor

Intel i5, i7, or i9 processor
AMD Ryzen 5, 7, or 9 processor
- Note: Avoid ARM processors, commonly found in Microsoft Surface Pro, as they are not compatible with CATalyst software.

RAM

8 GB or more

Hard Drive

256 GB or larger

Ports

At least one USB port (for Realtime writing, updating writer dictionary, and writer software)
- Note: If your laptop has USB-C ports, you’ll need a USB-C to USB adapter.

CAT Software

These are the things you must learn how to do on your CAT software. Every CAT software has a robust help section. Many of them even include video lessons or they can be found on YouTube.
